Together for the ocean

Scientifically based, effective, sustainable

The ocean is our largest interconnected ecosystem - and also one of the most threatened.

We know that real change is only possible through collaboration. That's why we rely on strong partnerships with universities, research teams, non-governmental organisations and businesses to develop evidence-based solutions for the protection and restoration of marine habitats.

Our partners share our vision
: a sustainable future for the ocean based on science, practical implementation and long-term impact.

Together we can achieve more.

Science & Research

(Universities, scientific teams)

Focus:
Evidence-based methods, scientific monitoring, data analysis

University of Konstanz - AG Adaptation and Symbiosis in Aquatic Systems Prof. Dr Christian Voolstra.

Prof Voolstra's research group at the University of Konstanz investigates genetic adaptation in aquatic systems, with a particular focus on corals and their symbioses. The aim is to deepen our understanding of the adaptation mechanisms of organisms in aquatic habitats and to develop strategies to protect coral reefs in the face of climate change.

Prof Voolstra is also President of the International Coral Reef Society (ICRS).

Karlsruhe State Museum of Natural History (SMNK)

The Karlsruhe Natural History Museum combines fascinating live animal presentations with scientific research.

In the vivarium, colourful tropical fish, exotic reptiles and Germany's largest living coral reef can be discovered in a large 240,000-litre aquarium. As a research institute, the museum is one of the leading natural history institutions in Germany and makes valuable contributions to the protection and preservation of biodiversity

NGOs & Initiatives

(Organisations that pursue similar objectives)

Fokus:
Joint projects, local implementation, community work

INDONESIA BIRU FOUNDATION (IBF)

is committed to marine research, coral restoration and the empowerment of coastal communities on Lombok.

The organisation aims to protect marine biodiversity, rehabilitate damaged ecosystems and create sustainable livelihoods for the local population.

BALI BLUE HARMONY

“Helping communities protect the coral reef ecosystem for future generations.”

  • Coral Restoration Sites in Nusa Dua and Lipah (Karangasem)
  • Installation of more than 500 reef stars and planting of around 7,000 corals
  • 16 divers certified in MARRS skills training
  • 33 workshops conducted for communities in Bali and beyond

Companies & Sponsors

(Private companies, foundations, sponsors)

Focus:
Financial support, technological innovations, scaling

‘The greatest innovations are created when people join forces for a common vision.’
