Sustainability for the ocean and land – for the generations of tomorrow.

With commitment, scientific expertise and strong local communities, we protect marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

We Do OCEAN.

We give back to the OCEAN – right here, for a FUTURE we all share.

A world where science-based restoration protects and conserves marine ecosystems – locally and globally.

A world in which waste is properly disposed of and recycled and awareness of the importance of healthy oceans grows among the population.

Our Vision

We actively protect the ocean and sustainably restore marine habitats.

Together with scientists, local communities and our partners, we develop solutions to make coral reefs more resilient, combat marine pollution and stabilise ecosystems in the long term.

OUR Mission

What we have achieved so far

2020 - 2024 we worked together with Livingseas Foundation to restore marine ecosystems.
And we succeeded!
Corals are growing, coasts are recovering and communities are benefiting - visibly and sustainably.

Our FOCUS today

Our mission remains unchanged: to actively protect the ocean and sustainably restore habitats such as coral reefs. But the challenges of marine conservation are evolving - and we are evolving with them.

With We Do OCEAN, we are now focusing even more strongly on evidence-based restoration by working more closely with universities and scientific institutions. Our aim is not only to plant coral reefs, but also to use the latest scientific findings to restore ecosystems that are stable in the long term. In doing so, we are already taking climatic changes into account:

Together with scientific experts and international partner organisations, we are investigating which coral species can survive better with higher temperatures and general stress in order to be able to restore them effectively under changing conditions in the future.

At the same time, we are expanding our commitment: in addition to reef restoration, we will increasingly focus on waste management in future in order to tackle marine pollution and develop sustainable solutions together with local communities.

Coral
Restoration

The Livingseas Coral Restoration Reef is one of the largest coral reef restoration projects in Indonesia.
It is located just off the coast of Padang Bai, a small fishing village in north-east Bali, and will cover an area of 5 hectares.

As We Do OCEAN, we have now decided to take this approach to marine ecosystem restoration and its success to a new evidence-based level and to multiply our experience and lessons learnt.

Waste
Management

Waste is a global problem, but while industrialised nations have recycling facilities and functioning waste management systems, the waste problem in Bali continues to grow.

To combat this problem, We Do OCEAN and its partners have developed a modern system for the collection, disposal and recycling of waste. We are still at the beginning, but we are seeing success and continue to work on developing an example of waste management that works.

We are dependent on donations to continue our projects.

Voices from our network

We work with committed people, scientists and organisations to conserve and restore coastal and marine ecosystems in the long term.

Protection for the ocean is a team effort.

"EndPlasticSoup is an initiative of Rotary clubs worldwide that aims to combat global plastic waste through "action, awareness & alliances". It supports and works with many international NGOs that are also committed to fighting plastic waste. We Do OCEAN is one of these partners. Only together are we strong and able to protect our environment."

"Holistic approach and sustainability - that's what connects Technology without Borders and We Do OCEAN. That's why we have successfully realised our two-level project (on land and in the sea) for this - our - world:
Implementing waste management and rebuilding coral reefs!

Don't talk, just do it!"

"The Karlsruhe-based foundation We Do OCEAN e.V., active in Bali, Indonesia, friends and former clients of our office, are committed to the reforestation of endangered coral reefs. By participating in their projects, we emphasise the importance of marine ecosystems and the need to take action and do something for the blue part of our planet."

We bring the ocean to your office and show you what is possible through commitment and enthusiasm.
